Does Money Make Money?

If it is your goal to accumulate wealth, believing the fallacy that money makes money, will hinder your progress to no end. This belief stifles many to a life of failure, and misery.

The goal setting theory of motivation means that you need to be positive - and realistic - to be able to reach your goal, especially if that goal is to make money.

How many times do we hear that "money makes money." Money can make money just as easily as Ferrari can win the Grand Prix without Schumaker in the driver's seat.

"Ferrari is the Grand Prix world champion." Do we say that? "Microsoft invented Windows." Do we say that? Or do we say, "Schumaker is the world champion." And "Gates invented Windows."? Of course we give credit to the person, or people. And that's because that is the reality.

Money is an innate, lifeless thing.

To illustrate...

Let's say we want to make our money grow, then we place a $100 note in a tin and bury it, and a year later we return and dig it up. How much money will there be? Only our $100 note we placed in the tin. There is no way, on God's green earth that there can be one cent more than the original $100.

People make money! And people lose money!

Certainly, money can earn interest, but the person (or rather the person's intelligence) is required to invest the money to earn that interest. In this regard, a person can make a bad investment, and not earn as much interest, or can lose money.

On the other side of the coin (no pun intended), a person can indulge in a business venture, and this way make money. Or lose it!

Whichever route is taken, it is the intelligence of the PERSON that either makes money, or makes more money. This is the way it has always worked, and always will.

Even in the event where someone has a big windfall, like winning the lottery, this money can be squandered, or made to multiply. Whichever it is, it is up to the person, to either invest wisely, or to spend endlessly. The history books are full of tales where enormous fortunes were won, and then lost.

Therefore, if it is your goal to make money, don't fall into the trap of believing that "money makes money"; it is a lifeless object, that cannot possible multiply without the intelligence of a human being. Rather...

Make it your goal to...

... learn about money, and how to invest and use it to multiply.

I do not remember how I got started but after a while I started searching for money earning opportunities on the net. I would sit and search for long hours every day. More Than Just A Label: Finding Christ In The Christian Business Opportunity

Evangelism is important because God commands every Christian to spread the Good News of Christ. We are called to be on mission by investing relationally into the lives of others, reaching out and engaging the culture, and letting go of our fear and pride in order to share the love of God with others.

Does a Christian have to live in poverty to emulate Christ? Evangelical Christians are moving away from the illusion that they must live in poverty to practice godly living. In fact, many are seeking Christian business opportunities so they can help finance their ministry and other social justice endeavors that cannot generate their own income. In the process, unfortunately, many are also forgetting the importance of good business sense when seeking out a legitimate Christian business opportunity. Furthermore, swindlers are using whatever means possible to lure such naïvely thinking individuals into their web which benefits only the conman. So what should a Christian ask himself if he plans on seeking out a Christian business opportunity?

Asking three specific questions will help the good-hearted believer determine whether or not he should seek a given so-called Christian business opportunity.

First, does the product honor Christ? Evangelical believers believe in two major commandments: honor the Lord your God with all your heart mind, soul, and strength; and honor your neighbor as yourself. Based on this single commandment, the evangelical believer must not only believe in his product, but he must believe that it honors Christ. A list of specific products is irrelevant, because honestly the business person must determine based on his own judgment, consultation with other believers, and a comparison of the product with what the Bible says. Obviously the Bible will not say whether to sell a specific product, but it will give guidelines which a believer should use to help him make a rational decision.

Second, do the methods used to sell the product honor Christ? Can a believer do his job faithfully and walk away knowing that his methods of production, marketing, or general sales do not conflict with his personal beliefs? If so, then he has found a great opportunity. Furthermore, if he can introduce and sell his product to other believers, he has found a great business. If he can find a way for his business to make the world a better place, to honor God with their methods and their product, then he has found a great business opportunity.

Finally, does the business reflect Christ in all of its dealings? Are there any areas that others could consider shady? If so, are they? If an individual has to do anything dishonest to advance his business, he should reconsider the Christian label attached to the Christian business opportunity. He must practice great caution, however, in maintaining an aura of integrity with his business. Honesty is key. The so-called "Christian" business opportunity should emulate Christ in its methods and its product.

An individual does not have to peddle Bibles door to door to participate in a Christian business opportunity. We must consider exactly what "Christian" means when we say that we have found a great "Christian" business opportunity. In the New Testament church, the term "Christian" referred to Christ follower. Today it refers to just about anyone who believes in the existence of God, regardless of his or her moral beliefs. We need to go back to the original meaning of this word. If a person claims to have a Christian business opportunity, he should make sure that his business opportunity truly does honor Christ.
